Buttercups rise up from Pearl's Fen in Fairborn, Ohio.

Pearl's Fen - Fairborn, Ohio, USA

Lush. Everywhere I looked was bursting with plants and life. Fens are unique in that they are not fed by creeks or rivers. Rather, groundwater bubbles up from the water table through holes in the ground. It's paramount to keep wetlands like this unpolluted as they are havens for unique flora and fauna. This image was shot from the wooden boardwalk so as not to disturb this delicate ecosystem.
